“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

The Interweb is 20 years old today

20 years ago today the guys at CERN made the WWWeb available to everyone with a computer and modem. You'd think we'd have accomplished a little more with it than we have.

Consider for a moment, we have at our fingertips the whole of human knowledge and what do we use the Web for? Leaving snarky, anonymous comments on blogs, porn, and cat videos. I think this truth illustrates why God has kept Earth sufficiently distant from other civilizations so as not to contaminate them with our vapid self absorption.

We'll be intellectually advanced enough to interact with other worlds when we're technically advanced enough to know how to get there.

My personal meme

At long last, a meme that combines my nerdy love of astro-physics with my incurable cynicism.....

Little league coach embarrasses self and community

In Bedford, Michigan the Rec. League baseball teams necessarily solicit local businesses to sponsor uniform and equipment purchases. The League has a policy that they do not discriminate and ANY business can be a sponsor. So far so good, right?

Well, when one coach realized that the sponsor for his team, Todd's Guns, actually wanted his business name on the jersey, he was horrified. Apparently some of the stupid parents were shocked as well.

(Aside--if you are a criminal in Bedford, Michigan, I'd go to the house of this coach.....he probably doesn't own a gun  with which to shoot you.)

They agreed to wear the jerseys, but vowed to cover up the logo with red tape. IDIOTS!

Todd should sue the Rec. League for failure to fulfill a contract and force these parents to either withdraw their sons from the league or wear the jerseys the way they are without covering the logo.

Politicians buy tanks the Army doesn't want

The Army says that 2,400 Abrams tanks in its current inventory is quite enough and they'd like to spend a half billion dollars on something more useful in modern warfare. But self-serving politicians from both parties in Ohio where all our tanks are built are determined to spend that money on tank-building jobs whether the Army ever fights another ground war again.

Who thinks the US will be involved in another ground-assault war any time soon? Me neither. Sure, we might invade some third-world shit-hole of a country who can't fight back, but we aren't going to defeat on the battlefield and then occupy an entire nation in any way that would require us to have more than 2,400 tanks.

If they want to keep those tank jobs, then retool the factory to produce stripped-down versions with none of the high-tech features that we enjoy, and sell them by the boat load to the same third-world shit-holes we'll be dropping bombs on in the next few years.

It's good to be a Muslim. ;-)

I'm hard pressed to think of even one advantage to being Muslim, but if there is just one, it might be that when you change wives under Islam, you don't have to change pictures on your desk.

Just for the ladies....Omar Borkan Al Gala

This is Omar Borkan Al Gala, the man who was kicked out of Saudi Arabia for being so devilishly handsome that clerics thought he would inspire impure thought among Saudi women.

Are they right?

I'm straight and even I have to admit that he's got a roguish charm.

Paul Kevin Curtis should have been a Muslim

Unfortunately for suspected ricin mailer, Paul Kevin Curtis, he's just an American and not a Muslim.

You see in the brave new, politically-correct world of anti-terrorism, if you are American and suspected of a crime, the FBI will turn your life upside down on little more than a rumor, but if you are a Muslim like the Tsarnaev brothers, the FBI will do everything not to look in your direction in order to avoid "profiling", even when the Russians call to tell them you are a dangerous terrorist.

Congress tries to exempt itself from Obamacare

According to Katie Pavlich over at Townhall.com, congressional lawmakers led by Boehner and Reid are very quietly trying to figure out a way to pass for themselves and thousands of aides, an Obamacare exemption....

From TownHall.com -- Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.

The talks — which involve Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), the Obama administration and other top lawmakers — are extraordinarily sensitive, with both sides acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides.

Discussions have stretched out for months, sources said. A source close to the talks says: “Everyone has to hold hands on this and jump, or nothing is going to get done.”

They passed it despite massive voter opposition and now they're trying to wiggle out of it. This on top of them quietly passing a law just last week that relaxes the rules preventing lawmakers from profiting from insider trading information. Plus, they enjoy lavish retirement benefit and healthcare packages of their own design, not the bankrupt social security program under which the rest of us toil.

I swear, the treachery of these people is unfathomable. They are all liars, cheats, and villains. I have no use for any of them. I am disgusted!

The world according to Americans

The Czech Republic had to issue a "Hey, dumb Americans, it wasn't us" statement following the Boston bombings because so many of us flooded social media with hate and vitriol toward the Czech Republic thinking the bombers came from there instead of Chechnya. Only dumb, self-centered, gov't-educated Americans would make that mistake and it's because this(cartoon) is the actual view of the world for most Americans.

When did we stop teaching basic world geography? It's embarrassing that we are willfully this ignorant as a nation.

Americans too eager to trade liberty for safety

Every time there is tragic death at the hands of a maniac, Americans seem all to quick to accept intrusions into our privacy and personal lives by agents of the government.....for our safety. But where does it end?

After 9/11, out of fear, we accepted the Patriot Act which allows to this day, unwarranted wire tapping, e-mail interception, and all manner of government peering into our private lives. After every mass shooting, which ever administration is in power calls for more gun control and more gun-free zones, as if any of this nonsense would stop a shooter. During the search for the Boston bomber this week, Watertown residents were in a "lockdown" situation as the police conducted house to house searches. I wonder if these searches were voluntary or as I've heard, some were conducted despite the owners' specific refusal to allow the search.

The militarization of the police force is another frightening aspect of our demand for safety over liberty.

Everybody from democrats to Fox News anchors are wondering why the FBI didn't detain these guys when they traveled to Russia and why they didn't interrogate them more thoroughly when the popped up on the terror-watch radar a couple of years ago. Answer: because they had done nothing wrong.

I'm very critical of the government on this blog nearly every day. Does that mean I shouldn't be allowed to travel or that I should be questioned by the authorities? How am I any different from these two brothers from two years ago? Unless you're willing to forego privacy, the sanctity of your home, and accept a police division of pre-crime, you have to accept that in a free society, sometimes people are going to kill other people.

It is ironic that Bostonians willingly ceded civic liberties in exchange for the illusion of safety on the very anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord where their ancestors threw off the yoke of an oppressive government and were willing to die rather than cede liberties.

Chechnyan's? WTH?

Chechnyan's? I have to be honest, that was not even on my top 10 list of liklies for the Boston bombings. The news is reporting that they are/were 19-20 year old brothers....though they don't look like brothers. Guys that young don't have the skills to make relatively sophisticated, cell-phone detonated bombs.....they had help.

UPDATE: Now it is being widely reported that these two guys leaned heavily Muslim. But then we pretty much already knew that didn't we?

Peter King reacts like a liberal to the bombing in Boston

In the wake of the Boston bombings, Peter King from New York has been running around saying that retailers should be forced to report to the authorities, the purchase of inordinate amounts of items than can be placed in a shrapnel bomb.

That's literally anything:
-Should I be reported for buying a 50lb sacks of pea gravel for my garden walkway?
-I build furniture in my basement wood shop.....should I be reported for buying in bulk, various sizes of screws and nails?
-In my job in the lab, we use massive quantities of single and double-edged razor blades to dissect tissue, should I be reported for buying these in bulk.

I could put any or all of these otherwise innocuous items in a bomb anytime I want. Does that mean the government should ban or regulate their sale to ordinary citizens?

Peter King is a liberal's wet dream when it comes to illegitimate surveillance and ridiculous regulation of the activities of the lawful citizenry.

He has gone completely off the rails ever since hurricane Sandy. Now there's a rumor that he's trying to get Mark Levin off the air in DC because Levin is rightly critical of his pretend constitutional conservatism. That tells you all you need to know about King's treachery and self service in government.

Jay Mohr emerges as biggest idiot of the Boston bombing

Like all Hollywood nitwits, Jay Mohr thinks he knows everything and that ordinary Americans will listen to all his pearls of wisdom with which he graces us. Here's what he had to say on Twitter about the Boston bombing....

'2nd Amendment must go. Violence has 2 stop.' 'The 2nd Amendment lends itself to the CULTURE of violence we are living in,'

What does the 2nd amendment have to do with a bombing, Jay? What about the violence in Chicago, DC, LA, and Detroit? These are the places where gun-control laws are the strictest. Gun control does nothing to stop violence!

People armed with guns stop violence.

Thoughts on Boston

Sorry for the non-posting so far this week. I've been out of town working and didn't have convenient access to a computer. There were always other peoples' miserable children playing solitaire on the office computers at the hotels. Anyway, there's lots to discuss regarding Boston, obviously.

Initially when I heard about the bombing on Monday, my first thought was the same as my first thought whenever something unexpected happens, "How does this affect me?" Other than pissing me off, it doesn't really.

Shortly however, I realized that the race of the bomber(s) might have a profound affect on me. I openly hoped that the bomber turned out to be a Muslim rather than a white, Timothy McVeigh, lone-wolf character. If it turns out to be a white guy, then the media will delight in telling us about his TEA party affiliations, that he listens to Rush Limbaugh, he's a Christian right-to-lifer, is anti gun control, and watches FOX News. The media, Hollywood, and the Obama administration will use it to impugne everybody in America who is white and conservative.

If the perp turns out to be dark skinned however, the media and the Obama administration will caution us not  to jump to conclusions until all the facts are in and that we shouldn't paint people similar to him with the broad brush of guilt.

But whoever it ends up being, I'm tired of our lives being turned upside down out of fear of these people. We should bring back quick, public executions.....hanging, firing squad, even public lethal injection, if for no other reason than the satisfaction of watching this guy die. I don't think it'll deter the next attack, but at least we'll know we won't be paying to house the last one.

Gun registration = gun control

These are the means by which the federal government will eventually confiscate privately owned weapons under the guise of a "national emergency", "martial law", or whatever made-up reason they give the chief executive the authority to disarm the populace.

It happened in Great Britain. Don't think it can't happen here. We said nationalized healthcare would never happen here either, but it happened in England first.

If they don't know who owns what, it'll make it that much harder to render you defenseless. They'll have to go door to door, at great risk to their own lives, searching for weapons.

Do not register your guns with anybody. It's not their business.

Obama makes a tax play for your retirement savings

Obama has arbitrarily settled on $3million as the maximum amount an American can save in a sheltered IRA. According to Obama’s budget, that is all that is “needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving.”

If this part of the budget bill passes, the US treasury department will confiscate through additional taxes, $9billion from erstwhile savers over the next 10 years. Obama ridiculously calls this "re-balancing the tax code".....and by "re-balancing" he means "redistributing" money otherwise used for retirement into social programs that benefit minorities.

A nation that punishes those who work hard, make good decisions, save money, and plan for the future, by taking what they've worked for and giving it to those who've hardly worked, made poor decisions, failed to save, and never plan beyond their next welfare check, is not the kind of country I want to live in.

Elizabeth Warren won't even care for her brother

Famous Indian squaw pretender and multi-millionaire Sen. Elizabeth Warren thinks it's the taxpayers responsibility to pay for her derelict brother, rather than hers. She feigned appall when she heard that Obama might change how social security benefits are increased every year.

She's worth $14.7 million and her indigent brother lives on about $13,000 a year of social security and rather than just take care of him, which she effortlessly could and not miss a dime, she lectured us that it's our responsibility as tax payers to take care of him instead.

Typical selfish liberal.....government should provide for those who cannot provide for themselves so their families don't have to. I despise Elizabeth Warren.

You can't argue with science

From the results of what might be the best scientific research project ever, French scientists took 15 years studying women's breasts and determined definitively that women should not be wearing bras.

You can't argue with science.

It's funny, because it's true.

The curious heredity of Dan Lipinski

There's always been something not quite right about Illinois democrat Dan Lipinski....I mean besides his politics. He's just got that weird inbred look of a Deliverance character. Then I figured it out. His paternal genes came from a Llama. Check out the familial resemblance.

Assault-knife attack in knife-free zone in Texas

Star College in Houston 14 students were stabbed with what is being reported as an Exacto knife like the one above. Predictably, Lone-Star College is a gun-free zone and a knife-free zone since somebody got shot there in January

Students admitted to running away even as they watched their friends being slashed and stabbed. I'm not so sure I'd admit to being a coward so readily, but then when you are raised as a precious snowflake as part of the entitlement generation, naturally you run away from confrontation of any kind and expect to be taken care of by somebody else in every situation.

Exit question: will Exacto knives now be classified as "assault knives"? And will the replacement-blade sleeve be reduced by law from 7 to 3 blades in order to limit the stabbings before reloading new blades?

One student or faculty member with a gun could have stopped this whole thing.

Life is tough....

You gotta love the Duke!

Reasons to have voted for Obama are all bad

Regular reader Barry posted this on his FB page and I swiped it because it sums up nicely the sheer idiocy of garden-variety democrat voters. Whatever your reason for voting for Obama, you should be ashamed of yourself......I am ashamed of you.

Resistance to the Collective is futile

Just Wow! MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry actually uses the term "collective" when referring to whose responsibility it is to raise kids. Essentially she's saying that even your own kids aren't your responsibility, they are the government's.

I'll remind Melissa that the US spends more in kids' education than all other first-world nations except the dramatically socialist Sweden. Spending isn't the reason our kids are among the dumbest on Earth. Blame teacher's unions, government interference, political correctness, distracted self-indulgent parents, and an intellectually decadent culture that places value on misbehavior, non-accountability, lack of self-respect or respect for others, idleness, and celebrity-worship.

Muslims are never happy

Have you ever seen a happy Muslim? I don't remember ever seeing one. Why is that?
They're not happy in Gaza.
They're not happy in Egypt.
They're not happy in Libya.
They're not happy in Morocco.
They're not happy in Iran.
They're not happy in Iraq.
They're not happy in Yemen.
They're not happy in Afghanistan.
They're not happy in Pakistan.
They're not happy in Syria.
They're not happy in Lebanon.
So, where are they happy?
They're happy in Australia.
They're happy in Canada.
They're happy in England.
They're happy in France.
They're happy in Italy.
They're happy in Germany.
They're happy in Sweden.
They're happy in the USA.
They're happy in Norway.
They're happy in Holland.
They're happy in Denmark.
So basically perpetually enraged Muslims are enraged everywhere they historically dominate the culture, yet are happy in countries where they are minority immigrants.
Conclusion: How pathologically stupid are Muslims?

Obama uses Cloward/Piven to collapse America and nobody notices

So in order to pay back the union thugs for helping to get him elected and for ramming Obamacare down the throats of Americans, each state will be required by the government to provide free of charge, "navigators" to  help people get signed up for Obamacare.

It is painfully clear that these "navigators" will be hired from the SEIU, Planned Parenthood, and other union crime groups to whom Obama is indebted.

California alone says it'll need 21,000 workers. The bill stipulates that the pay for each navigator should be $20-$40/hour, but nothing prevents it from being much higher. Because this force will be unionized(obviously) they'll demand probably twice that much, but for easy calculations, let us use $30/hour.

California will spend $1.31billion alone and that's not including the free interpreters in every language to get non-English speakers signed up. If you extrapolate that across the entire nation by population, taxpayers will be employing 210,000 unionized, government ass-holes who are stridently liberal democrats and criminal-minded, lying thugs, at a staggering cost of $13.1Billion.

Where's the money coming from? And that's the rub. There is no money. Obama knows this, but he's pushing it forward anyway. He's going to bankrupt the system with entitlement spending exactly how he learned to do with the Cloward/Piven strategy, which describes exactly how to overwhelm a capitalist economy so that you can remake it more socialist and centrally planned.

My God, Americans must be among the stupidest, weak-minded people in the history of the world that we let our own treacherous media re-install this clown into the white house.

Everybody panic.......and by panic I mean chuckle.

North Korea has "authorized" a nuclear strike at America. That might be scary if the Norks had the technical ability to deliver a missile within 1000 miles of a target, or the ability to have one travel further than Japan before falling into the ocean.

They have neither.

Nobody is sure whether the bloated boy dictator really wants to start a shooting war with somebody, if he's just full of bluster like his deranged father and needs somebody to give his country some food, or if he's establishing his leadership among his generals.....or a combination of the last two. Certainly he doesn't think his rag-tag army can fight the Americans and South Koreans who are armed by the Americans.

Though, I guess it's possible that he can declare war on America, fire one shot, surrender, and then the American taxpayer will be on the unfortunate hook for bring that country up to the modern day. If that's the case, then young Mr. Jong-un is more clever than I give him credit for.

Atlanta schools, poster child for local control and vouchers in education

This is Dr. Beverly Hall, Atlanta's retired school superintendent. She engineered and oversaw the largest teacher-cheating scandal in US History, even winning a $500,000 achievement award in the process.

Under her direction, sometimes threats, at least 200 teachers doctored standardized tests to bring entire school performances, on math tests for instance, from 24% proficiency to 72% proficiency in only one year....unheard of, nay impossible results.

If No Child Left Behind fosters this kind of cheating by teachers to meet federal guidelines for testing, then isn't it about time to take another look at local control of curricula and school choice, i.e. vouchers?

Mark Kelly thinks wife's victim hood gives him moral authority

Former astronaut, husband to useful tool of the Left Gabby Giffords, fraudulent weapons purchaser, and I predict likely candidate for something soon, Mark Kelly, went on Fox News Sunday to lecture senators Paul, Cruz, Lee, Rubio, and Inhofe about their possible filibuster of the universal-background-check bill that is coming.

Parlaying the assumed moral authority from his wife's victim hood into gun-control expertise, he soberly warns the senators that not passing the bill will result in accountability to voters in their respective states.

I should think their opposition to further erosion of the 2nd amendment would do just that. What liberals like Kelly miss is that opposing still greater limitations on the 2nd amendment is precisely what the voters in those states put them there to do.

My advice to Mr. Kelly: Go home Mark. Take care of your invalid wife and stop lecturing Americans as if you have the moral authority to do so. You do not.

Even children's toys cause outrage among delicate Muslims

Idiotic Muslim outrage #4,751.....Turkish Muslims in Austria got the vapors when LEGO released their Jabba the Hut action palace because it loosely resembles a mosque in Turkey.

From Telegraph.UK -- The organisation claimed his palace resembled the Hagia Sophia mosque in Istanbul and that the accompanying figures depicted Orientals and Asians as people with "deceitful and criminal personalities."

Calling for Lego to scrap the product, the organisation also took exception to Jabba's fondness for the Middle Eastern water pipe and keeping Princess Leia as a chained slave dressed only in a skimpy belly-dancer's outfit.

Hahaha....."deceitful and criminal personalities"....that's about right for Muslims.
Jabba gets high by taking drugs through a water pipe......that's about right for drug-addled Muslims.
Princess Leia enslaved in a belly-dancer's outfit.....the objectification of women is par for the course for Muslims. The character of Jabba the Hut sounds like a highly accurate depiction of modern-day Muslim savages if you ask me.....I don't see the problem.

Though the Muslims are claiming that it was their outrage that caused the Danish company to discontinue the Jabba the Hut set, the company stated that they would continue to make gobs of money from producing and selling it through 2014, after which it would cease production, which is when they would have stopped any way.

Civilian laziness drives new uses for military technology

It never takes long before ultra-advanced military technology got appropriated for the mundane diversions of civilian life. The Navy pioneered the use of water proof dive watches and pretty soon guys like me were wearing them to appear more cool and military like....

NASA and the Army pioneered the use of satellite technology to pinpoint ground locations with GPS and pretty soon guys like me were using the same satellites and technology to find the nearest 5-Guys hamburger joint.....

The government invented the Interwebs to facilitate quick and secure communication between agencies and pretty soon the productiveness of the nation dropped because all we do with it is look at porn and cat videos....

Now, fresh off the battle-fields of Afghanistan and Iraq, advanced drone technology is being used by some French news agency to deliver the paper to who ever is too lazy to go buy one.
