“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Food Stamp nation

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.....
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime......
Give a man food-stamps and he'll dine like a king at your expense.

For all I know this receipt might be a hoax, but the larger picture regarding handouts is valid nevertheless. When you give people access to other peoples' money, they spend it like there's no tomorrow.

Last blue moon until July 2015

Unless you are in the southeast and Isaac is clouding the sky, go outside tonight and enjoy the last "blue moon" we'll see until July 2015.

"But Ed, you wonder, where'd the phrase "blue moon" come from"?

I'm glad you asked. The answer is in two parts. First is why the color blue? Well, when rare seismic or natural phenomena occur such as volcanoes or massive forest fires, they inject into the atmosphere particulate matter of a specific and consistent size. Those particles are usually in the 0.7microns or 700nanometer range. The wavelength of red light is in the 600nm-700nm range. These particles scatter light that is roughly the same wavelength as the particle size, thus most of the light that reaches our eyes after a volcano or forest fire is blue because it's wavelength is far shorter, down in the 400nm-500nm range.

Part two: volcanoes and forest fires are fairly rare at least a few hundred years ago when the phrase was invented. So the blue moon came to be synonymous with rarity. Today, the "blue moon" phenomenon happens when you have two full moons in the same month, also a rarity. Because the lunar cycle is about 29.5 days and a month is a little over 30 days, the monthly and lunar cycles almost match up, but not exactly.  Over time, that small difference accumulates until you have a full moon on the first day of a month and another on on the last day. The accumulation of excess hours combined with a full moon on the 1st day of a month is indeed rare, so that's why the second full moon in a month is called "blue".

Australia's richest person gets it

Gina Rinehart built a $20Billion mining company and is the richest person in Australia. Here she has some sage advice for the handout crowd in the moocher classes.....

"If you're jealous of those with more money, don't just sit there and complain; do something to make more money yourself - spend less time drinking, or smoking and socialising, and more time working."

I couldn't have said it better myself. Sitting around being a lazy asshole with your hand out never created any wealth. If you are poor, it's probably because you made some decisions in your life that made you that way. If you are addicted to drugs, the drugs didn't victimize you, you victimized yourself every time you made the decision to stick that needle in your arm. If you can't keep a job, it's not because your boss is mean, it's because you have no self discipline, motivation, or work ethic.

Here are the three best indicators of staying out of poverty:

1: finish high school
2: stay off drugs
3: get married and stay married

If you do these three basic, seemingly obvious things, you'll have to be a complete idiot to remain on government handouts.

Chris Matthews is a one-trick pony

-Before the RNC Matthews accused Newt Gingrich of being racist for calling Obama the "food-stamp President".
-He accused conservatives of racism by referring to Obama's corrupt Chicago connections, because some black people happen to live in Chicago.
-He accused Ron Paul of being racist because Paul defended property rights and freedom of association, saying that property owners could turn away anybody they like for any reason they like, even race. Not that he agreed with it, just that it is Constitutional.
-He accused Reince Priebus and the RNC of playing subtle race cards against team Obama to gin up support among white racists.

In short Chris Matthews has run out of reasons to attack republicans and ways of defending Obama, other than race. What a cloying asshole Matthews has become!

Reporter thinks black people can't swim

This idiot reporter, David Chalain, from Yahoo News thought his microphone was off when he had this cackling commentary about Mitt and Ann Romney at the RNC convention.....

I wonder if he'll get fired or if the rest of the media will dutifully ignore his racist comment. If they do it'll be because they agree with him.

UPDATE: Yahoo News wisely fired this moron.

Grizzly bear rudely ignores rape whistle and eats hiker anyway

Hiker Richard White of San Diego was killed and eaten by a grizzly bear in Denali National Park in Alaska over the weekend. Most hikers recognize the bear danger and stay in groups and carry pistols or rifles for protection. Mr. White carried only a rape whistle.

Grizzly bears are notorious scofflaws and care not about the legality of killing, eating, or raping hikers. Mr. White should have known that bears are mostly hungry and not so much in the mood for sex as he evidently assumed.

Iraq wasn't worth the trouble

The estimated total cost(not including the cost of lost lives and devastated families) to US taxpayers of our Iraq misadventure will come to about $4Trillion dollars when it's all said and done. And for what, a destabilized power vacuum in the middle east, ripe for invasion by Iran?

Here's my list of dubious what for's regarding the Iraq war:

1: The American people are nothing if not vengeful and rightly so. Given this, Bush had to attack somebody following 9/11 and he definitely wanted to avenge his father's not being allowed to kill Saddam Hussein, so why not attack Iraq and kill two birds with one stone, even if the links to 9/11 and evidence of WMD's were sketchy at best?

2: America's military-industrial complex likes to purge old weaponry from the stockpiles and test new weaponry on an actual battlefield every 10 years or so and Bosnia and Grenada were receding rapidly in the rear-view mirror. We needed a "real war" to do this.

3: Because of weeping, bleeding-heart press coverage, Americans get weak in the knees when it comes to human-rights violations in other nations, and we tend to demand our politicians do something about it. Saddam Hussein being a particularly bad character provided Bush with a great bad-guy to go against. Purging Iraq of such a brutal dictator was certainly worth American sacrifices in blood and treasure, right?

4: Following along the lines of #2, the Pentagon must keep our defense contractors employed, productive, and happy with huge weapons purchases or they'll sell all their good stuff to rogue nations and mercenaries who'll then kill US soldiers with it....not good politically. And you can't justify massive weapons purchases without a war in which to deploy them.

5: The neo-conservatives, of which Bush was one, believe that it's the US's sole responsibility to police the world for human-rights violations since we're the only nation who can project force anywhere. They think that invading and occupying small but aggressive nations with dictators is practically our manifest destiny....like settling the west or something. Neo-cons love meddling in the affairs of other nations and imposing, by force using our military, our own brand of democracy on them and calling it liberation of the oppressed. We're still so apologetic about slavery that we'll go anywhere to liberate an oppressed people just to prove how virtuous we are now.

Do any of those reason even come close to rising to the level of war-worthiness? It's all a charade and political kabuki theater.

America needs the stability that comes with brutal dictatorships in the middle east far more than we need human rights in the middle east.

H/T to regular reader Billy for the picture.

Repent, for the end of the world surely is near

If there was ever an event that caused me to lose faith in the inherent logic of the universe and the meaning of human existence, it would be this.....Snooki is somebody's mother.

War just for the sake of fighting

Over the weekend, a deranged Afghan soldier shot and killed two US troops....again. And also this weekend, the Taliban, to show their disapproval of dancing and even having a good time in general, slaughtered and beheaded 17 people who were dancing at a party.

If somebody would like to offer a coherent, thoughtful argument as to why we are bothering with an absolute lost cause of a country like Afghanistan, I'd be happy to listen.

As little sense as the war on terrorism in Afghanistan makes and though I'm not a conspiracy nut, I'm beginning to believe that this 1984-ish, continuous state of war on the part of the US is not simply political.

In the same way that the EPA passes pointless regulations simply because they are regulators, the Pentagon encourages and counsels Presidents to go to war, over issues that are only distantly related to American interests, simply because they are warriors.

More cynically, I think the US likes to attack some country every 10 years or so, just to test new weaponry in the battlefield and to purge our stockpiles of older stuff so that weapons contractors can get new lucrative contracts to supply us with new stuff. As an ex-military guy myself, I hate to think like that, but doesn't it have the ring of truth to it?

How to stop a massacre

With rampant crime on the streets of your cities, especially if your city is run by democrats, there's almost no where that may be considered safe. The police can only respond to crimes in progress. There is no "Pre-Crime Division". That's why you should consider getting a "concealed carry" permit, like this guy in Florida....

Every time I hear about the next mass shooting, my first thought is, "If there had only been a citizen there with a conceal/carry weapon who could have stopped the killing." Don't be a victim. Be the citizen who stops the killing.

Get a conceal/carry permit today, buy a gun, get trained with it, and be part of the solution.

Stephanie Cutter....the gift to conservatives that keeps on giving

The hapless Stephanie Cutter, one of Obama's campaign managers tries to defend her boss for not having taken questions from the white house press pool in months, but talking non-stop instead to Entertainment Tonight, People Mag, and local top-40 radio DJ's in Albuquerque. She tries to defend Obama but inadvertently reveals what is necessary for democrats to stay in power......the stupidity of the democrat base.....

Morons who rely on news from ET and People shouldn't be allowed to drive much less vote. Obama can't handle tough questions from actual members of the press, but the other benefit is that dumb democrat voters don't watch hard news. They watch ET for news and Obama can handle the softball questions he gets from those idiots.

Stephanie Cutter should resign if she wants her boss to have half a chance of re-election. But for me, I'd like to see her stay around and keep revealing the treachery and phoniness of the democrat party.

Noted tool Mike Huckabee says to stop criticizing rape

Mike Huckabee wants you to know that rape isn't all that bad. After all, he knows at least two, count 'em TWO, people who were the products of forcible rape and they turned out alright. So how bad could it be ladies?

From Huckabee's radio show......"Ethel Waters, for example, was the result of a forcible rape," Huckabee said of the late American gospel singer. One-time presidential candidate Huckabee added: "I used to work for James Robison back in the 1970s, he leads a large Christian organization. He, himself, was the result of a forcible rape.

So I guess consensual sex as a means of procreation should be utterly discredited once and for all. After all, consensual sex gave us Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and Rosie O'Donnell. Gee, now that I look at it through Huck's eyes, I'm almost disappointed that I wasn't the product of rape. I'd probably have fulfilled most of my potential and amounted to something rather than be the bitter disappointment I am.

Choosing your religion

With the first Mormon running for President, there's been a lot of talk regarding religion and government. To me, I don't care what religion you are since I'm not looking to any politician to be my Bodhisattva. I expect you to take as little of my money away from me as you can and try not to waste it. That and to protect me is all I want from a politician.

But ever since 9/11 religion has taken a front seat in American politics with the democrats falling over themselves to adore the Muslims who attacked us and everybody else being disgusted by that.

If you are questioning what faith best suits you then I've included this helpful flow chart so you can choose the best religion for your tastes....

Islam has no place in the modern world

Since the Muslim Brotherhood took over Egypt and established a make-shift government, life for Christians and Jews there has taken a considerably darker turn.

In recent days, crazed servants of the Brotherhood have crucified, that's right-CRUCIFIED naked on trees, non-Muslims who have resisted the new government and the superiority of Sharia. Of Egypt's 80million people, as many as 10% are Christian and Jews. What's to become of these "infidels"?

That non-Muslim Egyptians are threatened in any way is testament to the fact that Islam, as we have posted times too numerous to count, is a savage, primitive cult of barbarism and brutality and has no place in the modern world among civilized people.

I wonder if Obama will continue sending $1.5Billion a year in military and civilian aid to them?

Let GM fail this time

Looks like GM is on track to go bankrupt, yet again. But that's what happens when you....

1: hand over the company to pot-smoking, alcoholic union retards who don't know the first thing about running a company. All they know how to do is use union threats to extort $100,000 a year from their employer to operate a rivet gun.

And 2: give them billions of other peoples' money and have them build stupid, politically-correct electric cars that nobody wants to buy, rather than find out what the consumers want and build that.

This time around, there should be no bailouts. Let the bankruptcy take place according to existing laws, get rid of all union contracts and entitled union workers and let the labor market dictate what those jobs are worth. Then think about building cars that consumers want to buy.

John Boehner owes conservatives an apology, and maybe a letter of resignation

Speaker Boehner is a hold-over from the old-school paradigm of legislation which states that you must go along to get along....or in other words, get the media to say nice things about you by appeasing the democrats and voting for populist bills, even though you know better. TARP was such a bill. It wasn't necessary to save the American economy or the world economy as we were lectured by the media and George Bush. It was a theft of taxpayer money to bailout DC-connected fat cats who had acted recklessly at the behest of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. Most republicans opposed TARP, but McCain, then running for President, voted for it so John Boehner went along with him.....and so did current tea-party darling Paul Ryan. Here's how Boehner defended Ryan's TARP vote today.....

BOEHNER: I mean, I think that (Paul Ryan’s) a practical conservative. He’s got a very conservative voting record, but he’s not a knuckle-dragger, all right? He understood that TARP, while none of us wanted to do it, if we were going to save — save our economy, save the world economy, it had to happen. I wish we didn’t have to do it, either, but he understood that.

Knuckle-dragger......this is what Speaker Boehner thinks of TEA Party conservatives who opposed the corporate/banking bailouts. If this is who we have championing our causes in congress, then we need a change.

I read this and I realize that the men who control our lives don't give a damn about right and wrong, they operate super-constitutionally and not much changes from administration to administration or from majority party to majority party. The American taxpayers get screwed nine different ways from Sunday regardless.

Joe Biden resorts to racism

Here's our idiot of a vice-President using racially charged, slavery language to scare blacks, ostensibly to keep them on the democrat plantation.....

Did you hear the gasps and uncomfortable agitation in the crowd? Democrats always resort to slavery imagery to terrify blacks into still voting democrat.

My question is when are blacks going to wise up and see how democrats treat them.....like easily duped children?

Republicans treat them like everybody else.....isn't that equality? Isn't that what blacks want? Or do they want to be treated like unthinking infants who can't make it without democrat help? Maybe this election year will provide the answer.

The stupidity of corn ethanol comes full circle

If anything illustrates better the utter idiocy of corn-based ethanol being used as fuel I haven't heard it....

Because Obama's Dept. of Energy mandated that a certain amount of corn ethanol be available for use in cars and paid for the incredibly expensive process with taxpayer dollars, the price of corn for other purposes, such as food, has risen dramatically. But now that corn prices are so high, the ethanol manufacturers cannot afford to buy it to use in the production of ethanol......heh heh.

Don't you love it when dumb liberal policies backfire? It would be funnier if I didn't have to pay more for corn too.

Ryan, Romney, and Bush.....three peas in a pod?

As astute reader Isaac noted, Paul Ryan certainly comes across as a TEA Party hero, but how does his voting record jive with the small-government, low-spending, limited gov't-intrusion-in-markets positions embraced by the TEA Party. Well, not so well it turns out......

From IVN -- According to the Wisconsin Republican Liberty Caucus, the Wisconsin congressman actually voted with the Bush Administration’s agenda of unprecedented federal expansion 94% of the time, and it may surprise his fiscally conservative fans to know that Paul Ryan’s voting record includes votes for the TARP bailouts, the auto bailouts, the massive Bush Medicare expansion, the unprecedented federal intrusion into public education via No Child Left Behind, the 2008 stimulus package, and the $192B 2009 stimulus package.

There are a lot of otherwise good conservatives who because of political pressure and the phony popular desperation fomented by the media, voted for TARP, Stim. I-II, auto bailouts, etc. But even I have to admit, that if you are a "good conservative" then how can you vote for any of those things.

I would not have voted for anything on the list above, my constituency and the frothing media be damned.

Let's face it, Romney and Ryan are closer to big-government, compassionate conservatives in the mold of Bush, than they are Gary Johnson libertarians. I'm bummed about that, but I just think Obama would be far worse than even big-government republicans....as much as I despise big-government "conservatives".

Thanks Isaac for the question, though I suspect you knew the answer before you asked it.

Paul Ryan it is

Unless you live in a hole, you've heard that Mitt Romney tapped Wisconsin congress-critter Paul Ryan to be his 2012 running mate. Immediately the interwebs lit up with cash flowing into the Romney war chest. The excitement for this pick is presumably because Ryan is popular with the TEA Party. We hadn't gotten energized by Romney's campaign so far, him being a Mass. moderate and all that.

The economy is the main, if not only issue, of this year's election and Romney's pick of Ryan couldn't have been more wise. Ryan has plans to reduce the deficit, cut spending, reform Medicare/Medicaid, and stimulate the economy in general, without bailouts or increased taxes.

Let's hope the move pays off in November.

Mars Curiosity worth every penny

Earth, Venus, and Jupiter as seen from Mars by the rover Curiosity's HD color camera. How cool!

As far as I'm concerned as a space geek, the $2.5billion was well worth it if I keep seeing pictures like this.

Orrin Hatch's treacherous support of stupid green-energy

The idea of green-energy is a nice one, that is if you can bring it to the market place and compete with traditional sources of energy. I'd be the first one to put solar panels, rain-water cisterns, and wind-mills in my yard if it was cost effective for me, but IT ISN'T. The only way for stupid green-energy to survive is for the government to force citizens to pay for it with tax money confiscated from them at the point of a gun. With billions being appropriated from taxpayers to support the green-energy fantasy the economy can only last so long as the citizenry won't have any money left to spend.

It's bad enough when idiot liberals do it to us, but when one of our own screws us, it's time for him to go.

From the MadisonProject -- Last week, with the help of Senator Orrin Hatch, the Senate Finance Committee voted to extend dozens of special interest tax preferences for green energy – preferences that are nothing more than subsidies and market distorters. Included in the $205 billion package is the Production Tax Credit, which subsidizes up to 80% of wind energy production.

If there's a more apt metaphor for the US economy under Obama, I haven't seen it.....

Mckayla Maroney is not impressed

The Great Wall of China?.....Mckayla is not impressed.

The newest internet meme is based on the hilarious expression of Mckayla Maroney on the medal stand after she disappointingly won the silver medal, rather than the gold, in the vault earlier this week.

Smart alecs on the web were quick to pounce and place Mckayla in all kinds of world events being not impressed....heh heh.

Click on over to Mckaylaisnotimpressed and have a chuckle at her expense.

Hyper-regulation is killing American businesses

This is the kind of thuggery and intimidation the Obama administration uses to punish its enemies and reward its friends, and it ought to be illegal. Gibson Guitar has agreed to pay $350,000 to get the feds of its back once and for all. You see, Gibson legally imported Indian wood for its guitars, but didn't use the politically approved labor to finish the wood. This criminal insanity is what passes for regulation in America today. Aaah, but there's another reason Gibson was targeted by Obama but its competitor, who uses the same wood, was not.....

From Moonbattery -- The Obama Regime didn’t go to these lengths to pick on Gibson Guitars just because it is an all-American icon. Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz donates to Republicans. The moonbats at competitor C.F. Martin & Company don’t have problems with the Injustice Department despite using the same wood, because CEO Chris Martin IV donates to Democrats.

What used to be America is now unrecognizable to me. When the federal government can intimidate and punish a lawfully operated business because the owner donates to the wrong political party, and extort protection money from that business, then I'm not sure this is a country I'd like to live in.

SEC football dominates

Heh heh, check out the new cover. The rest of the country hates the SEC's domination of college football with the heat of a thousand suns. It's the real reason the university Presidents decided to institute a play-off system for 2013. If other conferences had been sharing in the titles, they wouldn't have been as quick to change the current system.

Here's a simple suggestion: if you other conferences want to have a shot at the title, all you have to do is beat us.

Reasons for Romney

There are plenty of reasons to vote for Romney and still more to vote for anybody but Obama if that's what you need to be convinced. But here are four very good reasons to consider your vote carefully this November.....

Very little has a lasting effect on our lives than Supreme Court appointees. If Obama gets four more years, he'll likely get to appoint 2-3 more justices. That'll tip the judiciary scales into the "very liberal" category for the next few generations.

That alone should give you pause if you are thinking of voting for the Manchurian Moonbat. Than again, if you are considering a "D" vote again this election, you are a moron anyway.

Borrowed from regular reader Barry.

Usain Bolt.....a class act

Achieving the title of "Fastest Man on Earth" isn't for the humble or egoless, but Usain Bolt showed that even he can be reverent.....

I was already a fan, but I have new-found respect for Bolt.

Obama will screw over thousands to keep his job

When government budget cuts happen, sub-contractors often have to lay off employees....obviously.

When he was a senator, Barack Obama strongly argued that employees that might get laid off because of budget cuts, should be given as much advance notice as possible to allow them to plan for the loss of income.

According to the bi-partisan, budget-cut agreement, huge cuts will be made to the defense budget on Jan 2, 2013. Because of that, the pentagon notified it's contractors so they could plan for lay-offs and notify those likely to be laid off. But because many of those contractors are in election battle-ground states and those lay-off notifications will go out before the election, the Obama administration ordered the contractors NOT to notify any workers of impending lay-offs. Why the change of heart?

Well, when it suits him to appear to be a populist, he argues for populist causes, but when that populism threatens his re-election, Obama effectively says to contractor employees who'll probably lose their jobs, "Screw you and your family. I need your vote and after that I don't care what happens to you."

Nice guy we have for CiC, no?

(Sent in by regular reader Kevin.)

Hateful moonbat punks himself at Chick fil-A

Hateful moonbat punks himself by taping his ridiculous attack on a cheerful, hard-working Chick-fil-A employee, then uploading it to Youtube.....

It's always a leftist ideologue who stupidly whines that conservatives are hateful and mean-spirited, but the only hateful, mean people I ever see are liberals. This guy rightly got fired as the CFO of his company after posting this video. Pardon me while I shed a tear.....of joy, over it.

LGBT dummies stage a pointless kiss-in

Public Service Announcement:

In response to the massive outpouring of support for Chick fil-A yesterday, the LGBT community has promised a kiss-in at Chick fil-A locations to demonstrate their gayness or something.

Be warned though, if you go to Chick fil-A and see two people of the same gender making out, there will be another person nearby with a camera phone to capture the shock and horror they hope to catch on your face. The media will dutifully run these clips that prove what homophobic Neanderthals people eat at Chick fil-A are.

They'll make sure to stage a big sloppy french kiss in front of families with small children to increase the shock factor. So don't be surprised at anything they do. Just ignore them.....being ignored is the worst thing that can happen to attention whores.

The liberal exodus effect

Hilarious!

H/T to Moonbattery for the pic.

The rich DO build roads, bridges, and schools

Recently, Obama famously and stupidly lectured business owners and entrepreneurs in America that part of their work lives belonged to the community, the collective, essentially the government. To him, government is responsible for what people accomplish and therefor the government has a right to take as much of it away as it likes for its own purposes.

While it's true that government builds roads, bridges, and schools....where'd the government get the money to do that? By taxing at a very high, punitive rate, the earnings from the labor of the very citizens he says "didn't build that".

They very well did build that, Mr. President.

Sure the government physically builds roads, but it's the free market that pays for it.

Chick-fil-A controversy is manufactured mostly by media

Today is Chick fil-A appreciation day, so named by Mike Huckabee in response to the outrage at owner Dan Cathy's opinion regarding traditional marriage. Liberal tools and the media around the country are outraged that a business owner would express publicly a politically-incorrect idea.

There's no evidence that Dan Cathy has taken any action whatsoever against gay employees either in hiring practices or promotion opportunities, yet boycotts are everywhere and even mayors of two major cities said that Chick-fil-A isn't welcomed in their respective cities(Chicago and Boston).

Personally, I don't care if two gay people want to get married. My problem is with liberals for whom "tolerance" means agreeing with their views without deviation or exception. My other problem is that the media is manufacturing outrage over this in order to distract people from seeing what an awful person and President Obama really is.

So go out today and have a delicious Chick-fil-A combo meal(I always get a #1) and support Dan Cathy's right to speak freely even if you disagree with his opinion.
