“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Herman Cain gets the Clarance Thomas treatment

Two women from 20 years ago have "surfaced" to accuse Herman Cain of inappropriate sexually suggestive behavior that cause them to feel uncomfortable". That figures...liberals dredged up Anita Hill to falsely claim that Clarance Thomas had behaved in sexually inappropriate ways, in order to prevent him from getting on the Supreme Court. But is it liberals who're trying to deep-six Herman Cain.....or establishment republicans?

Nothing is detested more by liberals than a successful, black conservative and nothing is scarier to establishment, beltway republicans than a non-establishment candidate getting some traction in a big election. The big-money GOP donors want somebody they understand and can control such as Romney or Perry to get the nomination. Cain is an unknown to them. So the possibilities here number 3. They are...

1. Liberals are terrified of a conservative black destroying their narrative of blacks being too incompetent and inept to succeed without democrats' help, therefor Cain must be destroyed.

2. Establishment republicans are tired of Cain's 15 minutes and feel they have to take him down in order for their guy, Romney to return to his rightful place of defacto nominee.

And 3. Two women actually felt harassed by Cain twenty years ago, saw an opportunity to cash in, and extorted five-figure severances to go away and be quiet.

No matter which of the three you believe, none of it disqualifies Cain to me from serving as President.

Afghanistan isn't worth this

If anybody can explain to me how anything we accomplish in Afghanistan is worth this happening or will do anything to stop it in the future, I'd like to hear it....

From AP -- KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- A Taliban suicide bomber rammed a van into an armored NATO bus Saturday, killing 13 American troops and four Afghans in the deadliest attack on coalition forces in Kabul since the war began - a major setback for the U.S.-led coalition as it begins to draw down combat troops.

What are we doing over there? We're just running around being targets for suicide bombers. We will never, NEVER be able to negotiate peace with the Taliban, Al Qaeda, or whatever primitive, heroin-addled tribe currently controls things there.

To me, the fallacy of the US's middle east policy for my entire lifetime, is the absurd notion that these people can be negotiated with. That they are like us. They are not. They can't be reasoned with---we've tried that. They can't be bought---we've tried that. They can't be killed in any appreciable numbers---we've tried that.

What the bloody hell are we doing? Seriously, I'd like to hear somebody give me the talk that they would give the parents, widow, and 2 children of one of the men who got blown up yesterday, as an attempt to justify to them why the Afghanistan mission was worth the life of their husband/father.

Debate overload.....enough already

Rick Perry says that his campaign might de-emphasize the absurd number of GOP debates still on the schedule. Outraged Washington insiders wonder how a candidate can skip a debate and let the others grab the spotlight and dazzle the viewers. I ask: what viewers?

We've already had what, 5 debates? And there are many more scheduled, almost one every other week. When did this ridiculous exercise in posturing become the certain pathway to the nomination? I only watched the first two and couldn't be less interested in the rest. With Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, and every other media outlet available, why is it necessary to stage so many phoney confrontations that do nothing to actually inform the voters. It only serves to give the establishment Washington media the opportunity to trip up the republicans with "gotcha" questions, then make fun of them for tripping up.

I don't blame Perry for eschewing the debates. They're over-rated in terms of importance regarding fitness to be President.

Why Georgia may never win another title, in a picture

This(on the left) is sophomore, 20 year old Aaron Murray, Georgia's starting QB. We had a by last week in order to prepare for the big game against Florida this weekend. Young Aaron decided to spend his time wisely by heading down to Tallahassee to party with some Ga. Tech douche at a frat party.

Seriously? Let's examine all that is wrong with this picture:
-First, young Aaron is guilty of under aged drinking. I wonder if UGA or Richt will suspend him for the Florida game for this obvious rules and legal violation.
-Second, he's flashing the "hang loose" hand sign. What a tool!
-Third, he's partying with a Tech. douche....c'mon man!
-Lastly and most importantly, this is the week before the Gator game. Road trips to distant frat parties the week before the biggest game of your career probably isn't the most disciplined activity for a young D1 QB. Why isn't he in the film room learning what defenses Florida will throw at him?

If there was a shining example of why Richt will never even sniff a national championship, it's the lack of discipline and seriousness exhibited by Georgia players on and off the field. Can you imagine a Saban or Chizik coached QB doing this? I cannot.

Obama threatens country with self-reliance if he isn't elected

Obama raised the horrible spectre of a nation of self-reliant, productive citizens if we fail to re-elect him....

From ABC News via Michelle Malkin -- “The one thing that we absolutely know for sure is that if we don’t work even harder than we did in 2008, then we’re going to have a government that tells the American people, ‘you are on your own,’” Obama told a crowd of 200 donors over lunch at the W Hotel.

“If you get sick, you’re on your own. If you can’t afford college, you’re on your own. If you don’t like that some corporation is polluting your air or the air that your child breathes, then you’re on your own,”

I realize that sitting on your ass collecting checks of other peoples' money is hard work, but perhaps after 4 years of government dependency and the geometric expansion of the nanny-State, a little rugged individualism, self-reliance, and boot-strap self-determination is what this country needs.

Is the time finally right for a flat tax?

You want to take the oppressive, Gestapo tactics away from the federal government when it comes to tax collection? You want to strip the IRS of most of it's power? You want to prevent corrupt politicians from using the Byzantine tax code to reward their friends and punish their enemies? Adopt some form of a flat tax. But which one?

Herman Cain's plan calls for a 9% tax along with some other forms of revenue generation. Rick Perry's is a flat 20% on people above the poverty level minus some mortgage and charity exemptions, while Gingrich's is 15% minus exemptions. All are worthy of a second look, but is the US ready to radically transform the way government works.

I hope that after the radically left lurch Obama took the country with TARP 1 and 2, bank, insurance, and car company bailouts, and the mortgage collapse precipitated by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, the country might for the first time in my life, be ready for radical streamlining of our serfdom regarding the payment of taxes to the government.

I want a flat tax in the US more than any other campaign issue I can think of and I'll be sorely disappointed if the eventual nominee for the GOP doesn't embrace the idea.

Libya, out of the frying pan.....

Will it have been worth getting rid of Moammar Qaddafi if what replaces him is a hard line Islamic state ruled by Sharia law?
From Telegraph -- Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, the chairman of the National Transitional Council and de fact president, had already declared that Libyan laws in future would have Sharia, the Islamic code, as its "basic source".

The US got quickly behind the "freedom fighters" in Libya and their struggle to rid themselves of Qaddafi's oppressive regime, but is possibly another Iran better for the security of the region or the relative stability of a dictatorship?

Here's a fairly common example of what happens under Sharia. This woman was raped and then her face doused with acid because of some perceived insult to Islam....

I don't care what Qaddafi did, the official nationalization of this is worse. Another reason to stay out of other nations' business.

Finally, we're exiting Iraq

Pres. Obama announced today that there would be a complete and total drawdown of US troops currently stationed in Iraq by the end of this year. There are 50,000 troops there now and I guess they'll be coming home by year's end. I think this is a good decision and Obama deserves credit for it.

I'm not sure whether the pullout is political or idealogical on Obama's part, but what difference does it make to the families? I think we should have gotten out of Iraq years ago, but getting out now works for me too. And with the Lybian situatiion pretty much resolved, we shouldn't have any troops deployed in pointless wars anywhere except Afghanistan. I imagine that quagmire will last beyond the next President's administration anyway....these things always do.

The religion of peace claims another life

The 7th century zealots that rule Somalia beheaded a 17 year old boy yesterday....for being a Christian. The Islamic militants have vowed to rid Somalia of Christianity entirely. We are counseled by our leaders that we must negotiate and have open dialogue with these primitive barbarians, but how do you reason with a backward culture across time? They exist 1400 years in the past. The pedophile Mohammad invented Islam in the 7th century(1,400 years ago more or less) and its believers have not progressed at all since then.

Savages cannot be reasoned with except by what they understand, violence and certain death.

Nobel Peace Prize winner gets another scalp

Apparently Colonel Moammar Qaddafi was dragged from his hiding place in a filthy sewer drain and summarily executed with a bullet in his head earlier today. I was horrified by the video clip every time I watched it.

The price tag for our Libyan adventure was in the $1billion range. I hope Qaddafi's scalp and the utter chaos that ensues there for the next 20 years will have been worth it.

I know the British and French have had a much greater military presence there, but the US will take most of the heat for meddling again in the affairs of Arabs. I also wonder when the Nobel committee will notify Obama that they are taking back his Peace Prize, though wholly undeserved in the first place?

Adult baby gets to remain a parasitic sponge on society

It saddens me to report that Stanley Thornton Jr. won't be killing himself any time soon because the Social Security Admin. has ruled that he was not committing fraud by receiving checks because of his declared "disability" known as infantilism.

Despite that fact that he's perfectly capable of holding a job, this parasitic freak gets to wallow around in his own excrement-filled diapers, cram his vacuous maw with gallons of liquefied peas, and suck disgustingly on a giant pacifier all day, because taxpayers like me are working hard at two jobs to pay for it all.

Sorry for the light posting this week

Sorry for the light posting this week. I was in Louisiana for a few days doing some traffic engineering like the guy in the picture, and computer access was sketchy. A friend of mine has a company that collects traffic data and I moonlight doing that to make extra money. You know those black tubes attached to a box that is chained to a telephone pole you drive over once in a while?  ....we put those out.

Loouisiana plumbs the stupidity well even deeper

The Louisiana state legislature sneaked a bill through this week that prohibits the use of cash to purchase any second-hand items. Its purpose is to limit the sale of stolen copper and other products of crime, but it also makes it a crime to pay cash at yard sales, flea markets, metal recyclers, or other dealers in second-hand goods. Effectively it kills those businesses that don't already keep paper records of received items the way pawn shops are required to do.

This is a perfect example of a sweeping law designed to show that politicians are hard on crime, but the unintended consequences are worse than the original crime it was intended to prevent.

In addition, is it even legal to ban the use of cash in any transaction? Right there on the money it says "legal tender". To me that means you can use it to legally purchase anything and no law can be written that denies payment in cash. Or am I wrong about that?

TOTUS is mad as hell and not going to take it any more

Heh heh.....the teleprompter, without which Obama cannot publicly speak, was stolen along with a bunch of other AV equipment when thieves apparently hot-wired a white-house truck from a hotel parking lot yesterday.

Seriously, that's hilarious! I propose that thieves didn't steal the truck, TOTUS(Teleprompter of the United States) finally became fed up with the lying, obfuscation, and misinformation with which he was forced to feed Obama and it stole the truck itself, No.5 style.

Bonus question for a virtual cookie: Without cheating, what did I mean by "stole the truck, No.5 style"?

Heh heh.....the love rape up in Flint, Michigan

I can't imagine what link unemployment might have with rapes and murders, but VP Joe Biden has found one....

From Weeklystandard" -- "In 2008, when Flint had 265 sworn officers on their police force, there were 35 murders and 91 rapes in this city," Biden said. "In 2010, when Flint had only 144 police officers, the murder rate climbed to 65 and rapes--just to pick two categories--climbed to 229. In 2011, you now only have 125 shields. God only knows what the numbers will be this year for Flint if we don't rectify it."

A shortage of cops in Flint, Michigan because of no federal jobs bill only proves that stupid city officials are cutting the wrong jobs from their payrolls. Unemployment might, MIGHT lead to an increase in bank robberies, muggings, purse snatchings, B&E's, and 7-11 stick ups, but rapes and murders?

I hate to break it to Joe Gafftastic, but rape and murder aren't crimes based on economics. They're based on rapists and murderers liking to rape and kill people. If rapes go up in Flint when unemployment is high, that's just because the rapists in Flint don't have anything better to do.

Heh heh, dumb family gets lost in corn maze, calls 911

Who knew that mental retardation was genetic? An entire family of retards paid their money and ventured into a Halloween themed corn maze in Mass. only to get lost(sort of the idea) and unable to find their way out once it turned dark. In a blind panic because of a 3-week old baby, they call 911 for help.

I'm sorry, 911 is for actual emergencies, not to rescue people from their own ineptitude. What a family of dumb-dumbs!

Liberal Diane Sawyer over-hypes the OWS protests

Apparently a few thousand new countries were added to the map while we slept last night....who knew?

She said that she simply misspoke, but who misspeaks that deliberately when speaking that slowly while trying to make such a specific point? Nobody. Clearly she was exaggerating with her voice, tone, body language, and inflection to make the OWS protests seem like an organic phenomenon that is sweeping the populated world and therefor should be taken seriously, rather than mocked and ridiculed the way it deserves to be and the way I do here every day.

When a reporterette is trying to convince her audience by taking sides of an issue, it's tricky not to be too convincing. That's what happened to Sawyer. She's abandoned what shred of dignity she had left and has chosen to side with the dirty, loafing, drug-addled hippies infesting Wall Street. Shame on her.

Is Mitt Romney's religion an issue?

This is how Newsweek treated Mitt Romney and his Mormon faith in 2008 when he ran for President...

We wonder if the media will suddenly decide to damage him again with this if he gets the GOP nomination.

First, the question is, should the religion of presidential candidates matter? My answer is that is matters only if there is a decided and historical lack of morality and good judgement associated with it. Would I vote for a guy who called himself a Pagan, drank human blood, and sacrificed goats in ritual sacrifices? Probably not, but Mormonism is rooted in the same moral principles as other faiths....stricter even.

Second, do we elect Presidents to be our spiritual leaders? Of course not. So why does it matter what he and his family believe so long as he can competently do the job? You single-issue voting, southern evangelicals who think that a man is unqualified for President if he doesn't believe exactly the way you do are backward, self-defeating morons.

Lastly, I would assume that after Americans elected Obama even after we learned that he sat for 20 years in Rev. Wright's congregation, listening to the vile, racist, black-liberation theology that Wright preached, religion would pretty much be off the table as an election issue. That won't be the case if Romney gets the nomination. The media will ridicule his religious beliefs for months if they think it'll help re-elect The One.

Don't foolishly let yourself be sidetracked by the media's obsession with Mormonism. Our Presidents aren't our priests, shamans, mystic guides, Bodhisattva's, or counselors. We elect them to keep us safe and to provide an economic environment in which we can pursue happiness, nothing more. I'm getting tired of camera-loving, "Christian" preachers pretending to the media that it matters what faith a candidate practices. It doesn't.

It's called a job

I borrowed this from a Facebook friend. Thanks Terri.

Fortunately for democrat politicians, the concept of acquiring wealth by working hard seems to have been lost on an entire generation or two of Americans. It is on these entitled youths who've failed at life that class warfare works best. Successful people know better.

Wall Street protestors even dumber than we thought

There is an utter failure on the part of the Wall Street protesters to understand the contribution that corporations make to their comfortable life-styles. They are protesting the very things that make their loafing and degeneracy possible.

Iran, a parody of itself

Iran absurdly sentences a woman to punishment for making a movie about how Iran punishes women.....you can't make this stuff up....

From Breitbart -- Actress Marzieh Vafamehr has been sentenced to a year in jail and 90 lashes for her role in a film about the limits imposed on artists in the Islamic republic, an Iranian opposition website reported Sunday.

And we are told by our politically correct overlords that we should view Muslim/Arab countries as equals, just culturally different. Iran is brutally ruled by backward, savage barbarians. They are not our equals. They are worse than us.

The Navy thinks we're at war

This is Eric Kettani, a Navy midshipmen who received a waiver from the Navy to pursue a career in the NFL with the Patriots. A few days ago, the Navy recalled Kettani to serve out his commitment. Here's part of the letter he received from the Navy.....[emphasis mine]

As our nation is at war, it is important to ensure we maintain our commitment to the nation’s defense,” the letter from the Navy said. “As such, a release from active duty would be inconsistent with that effort. I appreciate your Patriotism and service to our nation and encourage you to pursue your goal to play professional football after completion of your service in the Navy.”

We're at war? When did congress declare war according to Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution? And all this time I thought we were mired in several overseas contingency operations.....who knew?

Obama has a secret murder committee

Over at Belchspeak, Pat has a link to a Reuters story outlining a secret committee in the Obama administration that operates loosely under the National Security Council, is answerable to apparently nobody but Obama, and has the power to advise on who Obama could/should murder with a drone strike using a capture-or-kill list of its own creation without advice or consent from anybody.

Though initially I was happy to see Anwar Al Alawki dead from a drone strike, since then I've become a little reticent regarding the realization that Obama ordered the murder of an American national without a shred of due process other than he incited others to be terrorists.

To a libertarian-leaning republican like me, this is chilling to say the least. I realize killing Alawki was wildly popular in a knee-jerk kind of way, but was it consistent with the Constitution?

NEWS FLASH -- dirty, smelly hippies are dirty and smelly

The amorphous rabble calling themselves protesters down at Wall Street are preventing basic sanitation services from being performed in the park in which they squat. Here's a city official's comment on the situation.....

From CBSLocal -- “Sanitation is a growing concern,” Brookfield said in a statement. “Normally the park is cleaned and inspected every weeknight. . . because the protesters refuse to cooperate. . .the park has not been cleaned since Friday, September 16th and as a result, sanitary conditions have reached unacceptable levels.”

When the tea-party demonstrators hold rallies, they scrupulously obey the demonstration laws, respect law enforcement, pick up after themselves, and then go home to bed. After all, tea-party people have jobs to go to first thing in the morning.

These dirty derelicts at Wall Street aren't respecting any laws, are fighting with the cops, aren't showering, and generally are creating a bio-hazard area out of a public-use park.

Somebody quick, call the Orkin man.

Adult language warning

I borrowed this from Cap This.

Finally, a Wall Street protester with a coherent message.

Lefty logic explained in one graph

Despite the fact that capitalism has created more wealth and improved immeasurably the lives of more people on Earth in the last 60 years than any economic model in history, dumb liberals want to abandon it in favor of a socialist-like model. Here's a simple graph that explains their obtuse reasoning from Tumblr....

Liberals have a way of ignoring the decades of fantastic growth and wealth creation from capitalism, rather focusing on the two years of recession, due to financial corruption and political cronyism, to validate their desire to convert to socialism as a form of economics.

Union thugs join the Wall Street protests and get what's coming to them

What do you get when you mix a throng of dim-witted, hippie rabble with democrat-party backed union thugs? A well deserved police beating, that's what....heh heh.
Nothing warms my heart like a dumb hippie and a union thug receiving a well deserved beating from a cop.....hit 'em again!

The rumor going around is that the democrat party sent the union criminal thugs to help out with the Wall Street protests in order to detract attention from the nose-diving economy and President Obama's political tailspin. Also because they knew the media will get on board and pretend that this is a rational, legitimate protest with plenty of serious coverage. I doubt many Americans are buying it though.

Herman Cain puts Wall Street protesters in their place

It's about time somebody said this. Herman Cain's stock can only rise with conservatives by pointing out the obvious to these dumb protesters....

From NYDailyNews -- "Don't blame Wall Street, don't blame the big banks, if you don't have a job and you're not rich, blame yourself.

This is the sort of plain talk resonates with ordinary, thinking Americans and has vaulted Cain into the top tier of candidates for the GOP nomination.

The wheels on the bus go thump, thump, thump!

Now that Eric Holder has been caught lying about his knowledge of the Fast-and-Furious gun-smuggling operation of the ATF, guns used in murders by the dozens have been linked to the program, and the press smelling AG blood in the water, how long before Obama distances himself from Holder and throws him under the already crowded Hope-n-Change bus?

It's an election year, and no sitting President needs his AG embroiled in a scandal of this magnitude and seriousness. Holder has got to see the writing on the wall. Presidents, and especially ones as self-centered as Obama, never go to bat for people who might tarnish their self-image. Every person in the administration is expendable in order to provide cover for The One. That's just how it is.

The narcissist in chief

Even when reading to children, it's all about Obama.....

From USA-Today via FoxNews -- Before his speech Tuesday at Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas, President Obama stopped by an early childhood education laboratory to read to children ages 3 to 5.

Among his reading selections: A book about the presidential dog Bo, including a drawing of the president himself.

What kind of storybook about a dog has a full, two-page spread of its self-centered owner? A book that is really about Obama and not so much about a prop that serves as pet, that's what kind. Pitiful!

Do economics dictate reproduction?

From FoxBusiness -- Author Nicole Knepper argues that the current economic situation has made many families rethink the decision to have children.

If only that were true. Why is it that the number of offspring trends inversely with the size of the family income? Is it a subconscious, evolutionary thing where the more tenuous and uncertain your circumstances are, the more offspring you tend to have to ensure the propagation of your genes? Or is it simply cultural that people in poor civilizations tend to have more kids because there's nothing else to do and because they don't receive personal validation from any other aspect of life?

People in known economic circumstances generally make calculated decisions about whether they can afford another kid, but less well off parents generally have way more than they can afford. In the animal kingdom, the lower you are in the food chain, the more offspring you have. Fish, mosquitoes, mice, etc, have hundreds or thousands of offspring in their lifetimes because they know that most will die or be eaten, while elephants, Lions, and humans which are at the top of the food chain, have a few or even one offspring over a lifetime and invest virtually all their resources to the rearing of that offspring to guarantee its survival.

Without casually diminishing the value of any human with respect to another, is it possible that generationally bad economic circumstances trigger an inherent, evolutionary tendency to over-reproduce?

Dick Durbin steps on his own......well, dick

If there's a more loathsome DC politician than Dick Durbin, I can't think of....wait, Barney Frank, Chuck Shumer, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Keith Ellison....whatever, he's pretty awful.

Tricky Dick forced onto the Frank/Dodd banking bill a little known bill which as of Oct1 prevented banks from collecting fees from retailers for their customers using that banks debit card. Any high-school economics student could tell you that when you restrict prices on one place, they always go up somewhere else. This time, the customers are paying the banks directly for using a debit card rather than the retailer, punishing the customer rather than the bank, accomplishing the precise opposite of Durbin's intent. Circumventing the marketplace, as Jimmy Carter learned in the 70's, only makes things worse.

Some have said that Durbin is just plain stupid for not foreseeing this, but I think it's more sinister than that. I think he knew this would happen and by forcing banks to stick customers directly with the fee, democrats could use this as an issue to make Americans hate big banking even more than we do already. If Americans are mad enough at banks, the democrats assume, we'll support their virtual takeover through executive fiat and regulations of the banking industry entirely.

I'm not saying Durbin isn't an idiot, he is. But I think he did this with knowledge of what would happen.

Unwashed hippies infest Wall Street for another week

The Wall Street protests begin their third week today as lazy, idle, trust-fund hippies attempt to recapture the magic of their parents' protests in the sixties by staging sit-ins, getting high, and refusing to bathe.

While they're good at demonstrating, they're not so good at describing what they're demonstrating for. Most can't answer the simple question: "if not capitalism, then what"?  They just seem to resent the making of money by anybody but them. Fortunately for them, their parents believe in making money and supporting their life of urban leisure or they couldn't afford to hang around New York City irritating people who have jobs.

I'll be the first to admit that Wall Street is rife with corruption and cozy cronyism with politicians, but flower-power won't do anything useful to stop it. Voting for politicians who'll end the corruption by demanding that the rule of law apply to fat-cat, Wall Street bankers just might.
